Description

Baseball's first crosstown World Series comes into play, with these (2) 1906 team photo postcards. Led by Hall of Famers Tinker, Evers, Chance and Brown, the 1906 Chicago Cubs turned in a 116-win season, to head into the postseason as heavy favorites. Their opponents in the third ever Fall Classic, were the Chicago White Sox, who were headed up by Hall of Famers Walsh and Davis. Known as "The Hitless Wonders", the underdog Sox pulled off a big upset, bringing glory and bragging rights to the South Side. Both of the offered postcards are printed with credits for photographer Fred H. Wagner of Chicago. These large format real photo cards are sized at 6-3/4 x 5" for the White Sox, and 6-3/4 x 5-1/8" for the Cubs. Both have minor surface paper loss and light traces of adhesive residue/staining on the unused backs, indicating there were removed from an album at some point in time. The fronts present handsomely, and were it not for the reverse side conditions, the White Sox card would rate as VG-EX+, and the Cubs card would rate as VG.
