With twenty future Hall of Famers manning the diamond at Comiskey Park on 7/6/33, the first ever MLB All-Star Game was truly a "Midsummer Classic". As great as the inaugural event was, the 1934 follow-up at the Polo Grounds was even more historic. After allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base, New York Giants ace Carl Hubbell went into Terminator mode, famously striking out the next five batters he faced, Hall of Famers Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin. 

Taken just prior to the start of the 7/10/34 All-Star Game, the offered Type I news service photo depicts opposing starters Hubbell and Lefty Gomez shaking hands. Located on the reverse of this 7x9 photograph, are an Acme Newspictures credit stamp, an Acme caption blurb dated 7/10/34, and an N.E.A. Ref. Dept. stamp dated 7/20/34.
