One year has gone by since Tommy Davis departed this world at age 83. He signed with the Dodgers when they were still in Brooklyn, and then debuted for them out in Los Angeles, winning back-to-back N.L. batting crowns in the early 1960s. Unfortunately, a fluke ankle injury soon derailed his career, transforming Davis from a perennial All Star into a veteran journeyman. As described in authenticator Phil Wood's LOA, "This uniform dates from Davis' post playing days, and would've been worn as a spring training instructor or at a Dodgers Fantasy Camp. Davis was never on the Los Angeles coaching staff. He was Seattle's hitting coach in 1981...[It's] certainly an authentic Dodgers uniform, likely from the 1980s, and for those looking for a lesser price point for a batting champion's jersey, this would check off a box on a want list." Manufactured by Goodman & Sons, the home uniform features a size-48 jersey and size-38 pants (with elasticized belt). Inked and crossed out inside the waistband is "#36."
