Description

It's hard to understand how Johnny Evers managed to be in two places at once—turning double plays as the Cubs' second baseman while also serving as Rensselaer Polytechnic's coach. Unless RPI was more of an honorary role in absentia. Regardless, there he is, the Crab himself, looming at upper left in his Cubbie cardigan. It was his hometown college team after all, and he later returned to the helm in 1931. The beloved son of Troy, New York, got married there in that same year of 1909. The pencil-scored scorecard measures 5-1/2" x 7" and has some perimeter surface paper loss, pinholes and creasing.
