Description

One of baseball's great rivalries is well recalled, with this pair of 1950s World Series ticket stubs. Way back in the day, New York City was the center of the baseball universe, with three franchises that had a real knack for winning. During the 1940s-1950s, the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers faced each other in the Fall Classic a total of seven times. The high point for the "Boys of Summer" came in 1955, when the Dodgers captured their only championship flag of their Brooklyn tenure. The "Pinstripers" quickly returned to top dog status, with a revenge victory in 1956, in the second of back-to-back seven game series versus the Dodgers.

The Dodgers triumph is represented with a 1955 World Series Game 4 stub, encapsulated by PSA with a (VG 3) grade designation. This game saw Clem Labine get the win in relief, with offensive firepower provided by Roy Campanella, "Duke" Snider and Gil Hodges, who all hit home runs.

The Yankees finished the 1956 campaign with a decisive 9-0 win in Game 7 of that season's World Series, and here we have a PSA certified (Authentic) ticket stub from this series clincher, which saw homers by Elston Howard, Bill Skowron, and "Yogi" Berra, who hit two, and Johnny Kucks picked up the win.
