None Better by SGC! In an industry where the term “rare” is often bandied about with abandon, we choose to apply this adjective to a tobacco card where the definition really fits. Produced during the spring of 1911, the Uzit advertising back was produced for only a short period during the culmination of the 1909-11 T206 White Borders run. This is evidenced by the fact that leading authenticators PSA and SGC have validated a total of 292 copies of all checklisted subjects combined. Among the players produced during the limited run, the undisputed king is Ty Cobb. Being that the Uzit brand displayed only poses from the 350-460 Subjects group, the “Bat Off Shoulder” variation is the only Uzit Cobb pose in existence.
Graded 50 VG-EX 4 by SGC, the offered 1909-11 T206 White Borders Ty Cobb (Bat Off Shoulder) pose with an incredibly rare Uzit back is an awe-inspiring example deserving of considerable bidding attention. Only 13 total copies have been judged by PSA (8) and SGC (5) with the offered example grading as 1 of 2 at the SGC grading level with none better! This wonderful survivor depicts Cobb clutching his weapon of choice while casting an intense gaze against a dusky ballpark setting. The perfectly contrasted illustration is well centered with a slight diamond cut and exhibits a crease-free foundation bolstered by lustrous player/uniform details. Despite limited perimeter wear, the Hall of Famer’s presentation is not compromised in the least. Additionally, the all-important back (currently ranked #6 as the most difficult from the T206 designation) is clean.
