The March King was only 6 years removed from having written his iconic "Stars and Stripes Forever" when he signed this contract with the Bowen-Merrill Company on March 10, 1902. No specific musical work or book is mentioned here, though the typewritten text is uniquely specific to Sousa himself, mentioning him by name more than a half dozen times. The first page states, "John Philip Sousa has agreed to write and prepare for publication a story or stories." The second page features Sousa's fountain-pen "8-9"-strength signature. Filing notations, in another hand, are located on the reverse. Measures 8x10 and rates EX condition. Full LOA from JSA.
