For the Pittsburgh Pirates, the 1947 season was a rather dismal one. A big shining bright spot did emerge however, when rookie Ralph Kiner led the NL in homers for the first of seven consecutive seasons. This superior slugger joined fellow Hall of Famers Frankie Frisch and Al Lopez, in the signing of this 1946 Pirates team ball during his rookie campaign. This period-signed ONL/Frick baseball (VG-EX) hosts (24) autographs that average ("5-6") quality, with:

Sweet spot: Ed Bahr, Bill Baker;

North panel: Roy Jarvis, Elbie Fletcher, Bob Elliott (d.1966), Al Lopez (HOF), Burgess Whitehead, Ken Gables (d.1960);

South panel: Frankie Gustine, Bill Salkeld (d.1967), Lee Handley (d.1970), Lee Howard, Johnny Lanning;

East panel: Jim Russell, Nick Strincevich, Jack Hallett, Hank Gornicki, "Junior" Walsh, Al Gerheauser (d.1972);
