Coming off three straight trips to the World Series, the 1932 Philadelphia Athletics were in the waning stage of Connie Mack's last great dynasty. Celebrate this monster squad, with this 1932 A's team-signed baseball. Legendary Hall of Famers Al Simmons and Mickey Cochrane make this ancient orb a must, and strong support is provided by key hurlers George Earnshaw and "Rube" Walberg. This period-signed OAL/Harridge ball (EX+) was obviously signed at game between the A's and the Chicago White Sox, as (4) of the (10) total signers were on the Sox squad in 1932. Signature strength averages ("7-8") with:
Sweet spot: George Earnshaw (d.1976);
North panel: Al Simmons (HOF, d.1956);
South panel: Billy Sullivan (White Sox, d.1994), Frank Grube (White Sox, d.1945);
East panel: Lew Fonseca (White Sox, d.1989), Jack Hayes (White Sox, d.1983);
West panel: "Rube" Walker (d.1978), Mickey Cochrane (HOF, d.1962), Roy Mahaffey (d.1968) and "Sugar" Cain (d.1975).
