Description

The feared leader of the vaunted “New York Sack Exchange” of the early-1980s, former defensive end Mark Gastineau wore and signed this New York Jets apparel during his ten-year career in the Big Apple. Includes: Signed Game-Worn Jersey a white mesh/dazzle cloth blend pullover garment with “99” heat-pressed to the front, back and shoulders in green appliqué and “GASTINEAU” applied to a name plate atop the back number in like fashion. Green stretch ribbed cotton lines the V-neck and sleeve endings while a “Champion” size “L” label and “1” EXTRA LENGTH” flap tag reside near the three-button crotch flap. Placed vertically on the back left “9,” Gastineau's silver marker signature and inscription of “#99” shows (“8”) quality.; Signed Game-Used Helmet a green plastic shell with “JETS” logo decals adhered to the sides and “99” decals at the base. At the front of the shell, Gastineau's silver Sharpie autograph (“8”) has a “#99” inscription. A five-bar facemask secures an “AIR” snubber and a manufacturer's logo at the base denotes size “7-1/8 - 7-7/8”. The inner crown is home to an eight-point rubber padding suspension, numerous padded cells, jaw pads and (2) “WARNING” stickers. Heavy use is evident with scuff marks and nicks throughout. Accompanying is an auction LOA from James Spence Authentications for the autographs, while the jersey comes with an LOA from Grey Flannel. Additional details are available on our website.
