From an era in which still photos represented the only footage sports fans were shown, these thirty-four negatives represent master images from which all other copies were made. Hailing from the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s, these acetate pieces were used in the photo publishing process and showcase top-name boxers. Comprised of both hard-hitting ring images and more pacified home and family likenesses, the negatives include highlights such as James Braddock, (2) Jack Dempsey, Al Gainer, Larry Gains, Tillie “Kid” Herman, “One-Round” Jack Hogan, Ace Hudkins, Kid Johnson, Benny Leonard, Angelo Rogers, Max Schmeling and a 1930 action shot of the Corbett vs. Fields bout.
